Gunman Contracts VR vs Non-VR: Which Mode Should You Play?

Quick mode comparison
| Question | VR | Non-VR |
|---|---|---|
| Headset required | Yes | No |
| Input | Tracked controllers / OpenXR | Mouse & keyboard or controller |
| Steam Deck | Not the VR use case | Officially supported |
| Leaderboards | Separate VR boards | Separate non-VR boards |
| Best for | Physical gun handling, immersion | Convenience, conventional FPS play |
Does non-VR get the full game?
The current Early Access description says VR and Non-VR (PC + Steam Deck) are both fully supported. That means the story contracts, home base and challenge structure are not being marketed as a VR-only campaign with a cut-down flat mode.
What changes when you compare scores?
Every contract, challenge and skill game uses Steam leaderboards divided between VR and non-VR. If you are chasing records, compare against the board for your actual input mode.
What about movement comfort in VR?
Steam community questions repeatedly ask about glide/teleport and Quest controls. Those are real player concerns, but the final launch bindings and comfort options should be checked in the release build rather than copied from the Alyx mod. The official requirements confirm OpenXR standing/sitting support; they do not publish a full final control map on the store page.
